Essential Skills for New Managers

The aim of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to become effective mentors to their team members.

The Mastering Mentoring course is designed to equip new managers with the essential skills needed to effectively mentor their team members. Mentoring is not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about fostering growth, building relationships, and unlocking potential. Through a practical 20-hour programme, participants will delve into the theory and practice of mentoring, acquiring invaluable insights and useful techniques that they can take with them to become adept and influential mentors within their teams.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

– Understand the importance of mentoring in professional development.
– Build effective relationships with team members based on trust and clear communication.
– Develop strong communication skills, including active listening and giving feedback.
– Guide mentees in setting and achieving goals, and support their career development.
– Uphold ethical standards and engage in continuous self-reflection for personal growth as a mentor.

About the Trainer:

Anna is a qualified and accredited leadership coach and mentor, with over 20 years’ experience in training, coaching and mentoring. Anna provides training to teams on mentoring and coaching skills with the aim of promoting inclusive and authentic communication and connection in the workplace.

She counts the following companies as her clients: Munster Technological University, Ludgate Hub, Thermo Fischer Scientific, Irish Guide Dogs and Coach Academy Plus. She was the National Programme Manager for the “Mentoring for Success” programme with Network Ireland for three years. She has designed and delivered many coaching and mentoring programmes during her career.
